During September 2026, Wirral Wave Radio is looking for volunteer community journalists from across the peninsula.

Based in Birkenhead, Wirral Wave Radio has launched a new initiative to expand existing coverage of neighbourhood stories, grassroots events and the everyday moments that matter to local people.

We’re looking for a handful of volunteers from all walks of life who:

• Have a passion for reporting on interesting local enterprises, events and personalities
• Possess good written and verbal reporting skills
• Are engaging, approachable, curious, reliable and enthusiastic
• Care about what’s happening in their community

Volunteer contributors will get the chance to create:

• Short features for radio & social media
• Interviews
• Event reports
• Engaging stories

Support and guidance will be provided by the station, so you don’t need to be a professional journalist, just someone with a story-telling instinct and a love for Wirral.

Places close on Wednesday 30 September 2026.
